ABSTRACT:
The dramatic advances of nanotechnology experienced in recent years
have enabled us to fabricate optical nanostructures that greatly enhance
the conversion of localized electromagnetic energy into radiation and
vice versa. These offer the required improvements in terms of bandwidth,
interaction strength and resolution to fundamentally advance our ability
to harness light-matter interactions. In this context, we present concrete
examples in support of our vision and discuss a series of findings that
identify novel promising regimes of quantum optics and spectroscopy
at the nanoscale.
